Safety Standards

Last updated: 2026-09-12

Our commitment

Heartbeat has a zero-tolerance policy against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). We are committed to conducting our service responsibly, and to helping protect children from abuse, exploitation, and harm. These standards set out how we prevent, detect, and respond to abuse on our platform.

What Heartbeat is

Heartbeat is a private, opt-in location-sharing app. It has no public profiles, no public content, no comments, no public messaging, and no discovery or browsing of strangers. Users share real-time location only within private circles they create or join, with people they choose to invite.

Prohibited conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on Heartbeat:

  • Any depiction or promotion of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Any solicitation, grooming, or exploitation of minors, in any form.
  • Sharing the location of a child without parental consent or for the purpose of harming, stalking, or surveying a minor.
  • Using the service to facilitate any form of child trafficking or abuse.

Reporting and enforcement

If we become aware of suspected child sexual abuse material or exploitation, we will act, including by removing access and reporting to the relevant authorities (such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, CEOP/ICMEC, or local law enforcement) and cooperating with investigations. Any account found facilitating abuse is immediately terminated and removed from the service.

Because Heartbeat is self-hosted software, the operator running the service is responsible for applying these standards to their deployment and cooperating with the authorities in their jurisdiction.

How to report

To report suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation involving Heartbeat, contact us at contact@metaware.cc. You may also report directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at report.cybertip.org or to local law enforcement in your country.
